Earth Month

Earth Month

April is Earth Month and April 22nd is World Earth Day.  We want to take the opportunity to share what we're doing to minimize our impact on the earth.  We're not into green-washing; we fully acknowledge the retail trade, especially gifting creates waste, but we are doing our best to keep our environmental impact top of mind and make the best choices we can.

Local sourcing

By sourcing so many of our products from Canadian companies we are able to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and transportation.

Reusing packaging materials from suppliers

If you order is being shipped you will likely receive it packaged with packing paper or bubble wrap we have reused from our suppliers.  We are often, but not always, able to reuse the boxes too!

Recyclable gift baskets

So many of us have enough wood/fabric/wicker/metal baskets and so we ship more than half our gift boxes in paperboard baskets that can be recycled!

Sourcing from companies that use recycled materials to make their products and packaging

Some suppliers we want to highlight are below:

Green Toys - All the toys from this brand are made in the United States from recycled milk bottles and the packaging is completely plastic free and 100% recyclable.

Ten & Co - Ten & Co makes beautiful Swedish dishcloths designed in Oakville and ethically made in Sweden.  Each washcloth is fully recyclable or compostable and each sponge can replace up to 40 rolls of paper towel.

SowSweet Greetings - SowSweet Greetings makes hilarious pun-ny cards printed on seed paper that you can plant.  The envelope is made from recycled materials and the protective sleeve is compostable.

Luv the Grub - Luv the Grub makes a delicious line of chutneys and jams with "ugly produce" saving tons of food waste!

Nature Bee - Nature Bee makes a beautiful line of beeswax wraps that replaces saran wrap and concentrated waterless tablets used for cleaning and hand soap.

S'well - S'well makes a line of beautiful, reusable and practical water bottles, tumblers and food containers.  S'well is also a certified B Corp!

Petit Collage - Sustainability is central to Petit Collage's mission.  Their products are made from recycled materials and printed with vegetable inks.  Any wood used in their products is FSC certified.

eeBoo - Sustainability is also central to eeBoo's mission.  Their products are made from recycled materials and printed with vegetable inks.  All cardboard used in their products is FSC certified.
