We got some new family photos taken from a safe distance. We didn’t spend a lot of time preparing for them or planning matching outfits. The whole thing took about 12 minutes. They aren’t perfect but I love them. I think they document this time really well and show how we have spent the past 12 weeks together playing in our yard, watching the kids grow and bond.
Overall, my family has adjusted to this new normal pretty well. We’re in a groove now as we’ve figured out a schedule that seems to ensure everyone gets what they need, when they need it in a given day. It wasn’t easy and it’s constantly changing. Having 2 kids under 3 means we’ve got to juggle naps, meal times, early bedtimes and of course getting some work done. We are generally enjoying the extra time we have together as a family but we miss our extended family and our friends so much!
I hope that when this is over we look back on this time and remember the fun we had together and not the stress and anxiety. Our kids are changing constantly and it’s really a blessing in disguise to be in a situation where we are spending more time together than we normally would. Even though we are spending all day every day together some mornings it still feels like the kids have grown and matured overnight. It’s wonderful to watch the girls bond and I hope if they remember any part of COVID-19 they remember spending tons of quality time together as a family.
How are you making out during this time? Remember that we are all experiencing COVID-19 differently and it’s ok to feel whatever you’re feeling. Not everyday needs to be sunshine and rainbows but hopefully the good days outnumber the bad days.
