It’s hard to believe that four months have passed, and my time at Caribou Gifts is coming to an end. Over these past few months, I have learned so much about retail, the brand, and what it takes to run a successful business. I’ve made friendships at the mall that I know will last even after I leave. Most of all, I got the chance to watch Caribou Gifts grow along with me. 

I still remember my first day here, admiring all the baskets on the shelves and getting familiar with what the brand is all about. Now, I still look at the store with great admiration, but with a new perspective. Instead of just seeing gift baskets and toys on shelves, I see all the hard work that is put into making the baskets and choosing which products we sell. 

I have learned so much about retail, which is an experience I didn’t realize I needed, being in hospitality and tourism at school. I never realized how much work goes into keeping track of the inventory, and I am very grateful to Megan, who has a background in inventory management! 

Christmas at the store was something different. Around late November, the craziness started. We had so many orders, it was hard to keep track of them! But thanks to the hard work of everyone on the team, we made it through.

I didn’t keep an exact tally of how many baskets I made during my time here, but I estimate that I made more than 500! I hope that all the recipients of our baskets not only enjoyed the products we carefully packed into them, but also felt appreciated by the gesture of receiving a basket. I know I did when Megan surprised me with one on my birthday!

Now, the holiday season is over and Caribou Gifts is moving onto a new chapter as well – the retail store’s first New Year! The holidays may be coming to a close, but Caribou Gifts remains open year-round, ready to help you find the perfect gift. So don’t miss out!
